Who’s Who
Canon Gwynne Richardson
Gwynne was the Industrial Chaplin to the Selby Coalfield and then moved to be the vicar of St. Wilfrid’s church in Monk Fryston and St Mary’s South Milford. He then took on the role of Rural Dean. Gwynne became a Canon at York Minster in 2003, and has now retired back into the Brayton parish.
Married to Barbara, they have two boys and like to spend time with their grandchildren.
Jackie Jackman | Reader
Jackie is a retired primary school teacher and took the readers course in 1984-1986. She was licensed in November 1986 to serve at St. Wilfrid’s.
Cliff Pritchard | Director of music
Head of English at a local secondary school, Cliff is married to Michaela who is a talented musician herself. They have a young family. Cliff is extremely proud to be Welsh!
Bill Evans | Churchwarden
Bill spent spent 3 years in Zambia as a Mission Teacher through USPG. He is a retired headmaster of a special school in Devon. Bill is married to Ruth and has three daughters (all in the medical profession). Bill is also a Rotarian.
David Howden | Churchwarden
Into his second year in office as churchwarden. David was a General Manager of an international haulage company.
He is married to Joan and they have four children. David is also a Rotarian.
Rev. Ken Manners
Local business man and non stipendiary minister. After being ordained, Ken served in Brayton and also looked after Barlow. He is now retired.
Ken is married to Margaret.
Jill Clarke | Junior Church
Married to John and has two children.
Sheila Newsome | Sacristan
Married to Brian, has 3 children and 6 grandchildren. She has been part of St Wilfrid's Church Family for almost 35 years. In her ‘spare’ time she is an ambassador and fundraiser for Martin House Hospice for Children and Young People.
Barbara Stevenson | PCC Secretary
Barbara has been involved with St. Wilfrid's Church for quite a while now. She is married to Ray and has two daughters and 5 grandchildren. In any spare time, Barbara enjoys reading and researching family history.
Rev. John Davis
Has worked in the York Diocese all his life. Currently the full time Industrial Chaplain and Rural Advisor
John is married to Lynda.
Rector Peter Watson
Pete joined the parish of Brayton as the new Rector in January 2010.
He’s definitely well travelled ... spending a year teaching in the Himalayan foothills in North India; then living in York for 5 years before then moving to Durham to do his theological training; and finally ending up in Boston Spa where he completed his curacy.
Pete is married to Charlotte and has 3 daughters.
